The Greek Branch of the International Association of Music Libraries, Archives and Documentation Centres (IAML-GR) was founded in the spring of 2016 as an independent, non-governmental, non-profit organization. Its members include institutions, organizations, and individuals.
Through the Greek Branch of IAML, we work towards:
- Promoting collaboration among professionals engaged in the development of the academic fields of music librarianship, music archiving, and music information services
- Encouraging the creation of independent research groups and working groups aimed at addressing gaps and developing solutions in specific areas, such as documentation and cataloguing issues (subject headings, cataloguing of special formats, etc.), archival material management, music research and methodology, and digitization practices
- Presenting internationally the progress and potential of Greek music librarianship and music archiving
- Strengthening connections between Greek music libraries, archives, and collections and their counterparts abroad, with the aim of facilitating future collaborations, and finally
- Highlighting music information, in general, as a cornerstone of musical development.
